About Kedarkantha Trek

It would be absolutely right to say, Kedarkantha as the Queen of Winter Treks. It is well-liked by hikers because to the knee-deep snow in the winter, the captivating view from the top, and the lovely and simple pathways. The ‘easy on endurance’ trail winds through Govind National Park’s dense pine trees. A 12,500- foot ascent is worthwhile for the panoramic views.

The Kedarkantha walk will provide you with an unparalleled perspective of the cosmos, as well as lush meadows, snowy trails, picturesque villages, fragrant pine forests, sky-scraping peaks, serene rivers, and some fabled story whispers.

Kedarkantha Trek Uttarakhand Itinerary

After arriving in Dehradun, drive to Sankari through the scenic surroundings of Mussorrie and the stunning Yamuna River;
stop for lunch along the way. The breathtaking pine forests, snow-capped peaks, and scenic views will keep you
entertained and excited throughout this long journey of 8 hours.

Ater a nice meal in the hotel, begin with a slow and gradual hike to Saur Village, from
which the trek will continue. You’ll come across the Juda-ka-Talab, a small but iconic pond that freezes completely during the winter. 

You can also enjoy panoramic views of the snow-clad peaks of the mighty Himalayan
range from the lake’s banks, and continue hiking through the scenic locales.

After breakfast, will follow a magnificent trail that leads to Kedarkantha!
The allure and charm of this trail is truly a delight for photographers. After completing this 4 kms long snow-covered terrain, you will arrive at a campsite at the base of Kedarkantha that is surrounded by snow-clad trees and offers stunning views of the Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Kalanag peaks.

Today we will travel a long distance. We will embark on an exciting journey to reach the summit. After trekking through the dense forest, you will gradually reach the peak of Kedarkantha.


From the peak, take in breathtaking views of the Yumnotri, Gangotri, Kinner Kailash, and other Himalayan ranges.
We’ll stop at the top for a few hours before returning to the campsite.

It is now time to end the journey and begin
the trek from Juda ka Talaab to Sankri. After reaching Sankri, the drive back to Dehradun will provide breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It will be your last day in the beautiful Himalayas of Uttarakhand, so celebrate your achievement of the kedarkantha summit. The blissful journey comes to an end when you arrive in Dehradun from Sankri village.

  • Tented accommodation throughout the trek for 3 Nights Guesthouse/ Hotel stay for 1 night at Sankri.
  • All veg meals starting from Day 1 Dinner to Day 5 Breakfast.
  • Camping gears like sleeping bags, Tents, Thick mattress, separate kitchen, Dining tent, Crampon, Gaiters & Utensils.
  • Mountaineering qualified & Professional trek Leader, guide and Support staff.
  • Forest entry charges for Indian Nationals only.

Things to carry

  • A rucksack bag and a day pack 3-litre water bladder or water bottle
  • One cotton long sleeves and 2 short sleeves t-shirt 1 pair of gloves, sets of undergarments
  • At least 2 long pants (trek pants and cargo pants are favourable) 4-2 pairs of socks, A small towel, A rain jacket or a poncho
  • Above-the-ankle waterproof and breathable hiking boots with good grip Flip flops/sandals
  • Glucose powder, Medicines for headaches, diarrhoea, motion sickness, Dettol, Bandages, Cotton
